SWI swissinfo.ch publishes both background and up-to-date reports in ten languages using a variety of media. The information platform is aimed at an international audience and at Swiss citizens living abroad, and reaches over 80% of internet users around the world.
Your mission
We are looking for an online journalist (80-100%) to manage our Arabic editorial department, who will lead a team of 3 online journalists specialising in the production, adaptation and distribution of editorial and multimedia content in Arabic.Your main role will be generating content, leading the team and supervising everything published in Arabic on our website and social networks, to ensure quality and accuracy. Your specific duties will include:
- Preparing and producing various types of content.
- Arranging the publication and adaptation of articles of particular interest to our Arabic audience.
- Coordinating the work of the members of the Arabic editorial team, and planning and supervising the editorial, adaptation and distribution tasks.
- Proofreading, correcting and editing the articles produced by your team prior to online publication in Arabic.
- Translating and adapting articles produced by other language departments for dissemination to our Arabic audience.
- Helping to generate new ideas and taking an active role in discussions about developing our media.
- Representing SWI swissinfo.ch at events, during visits or in making contacts from outside the company.
- Performing any and all administrative tasks associated with your role.
Your profile
- Full, certified training in journalism, as well as experience in online media
- Leadership, teamwork and collaborative skills
- Keen interest in social networks and the ability to create engaging content for these platforms
- Awareness of international affairs
- Absolute familiarity with Swiss life and culture, as well as with how Swiss institutions operate
- Fluency in Arabic and outstanding editorial skills
- Expertise in digital and office automation tools
- A good level of English and knowledge of one of the Swiss national languages will complete your profile
